Firstly, thank you very much to "Liz" ~Elizabeth Keyes for your unbelievable effort in preparing the sample diagram flow.

I am having trouble communication my thoughts into a workflow process.. I managed buildings for owners also known as (COA's)Community Associations, Strata Titles, Body Corporates. I'm trying to explain the following....

An Apartment Building -
a) Has Owners who own an apartment
b) "May or May NOT" have, Residents who are renting an apartment

The Community Association -
a) Is responsible for desicion making and maintenance of the Building on behalf of all owners & residents
b) All Owners, make up the Community Association.
c) Depending on current Laws, The Community Association "May or May NOT" have a Committee
d) The Committee is made up of 1 Chairperson & at least 2 other Owners

My Role -
a) Is to Advise the Community Association & the Committee (if one is elected).
b) Is to Manage & Action their desicion.

So far, I have managed to work out the following;
a) Roles = Chairperson
b) Individual = Owner
c) Groups = Committee

Is the correct?

Thanks in advance
Simon

You're very welcome for my demo, I'm glad I could help someone out

Regarding your question, I'm doing more of a software process for my project; however I think you have the right idea. I would make Owner and Renter Individuals to add to a building. You could also have general Resident Individuals, then Owner and Renter Roles. In the process, you could use a Decision block to ask if Residents are renting or owning, then assign them to a Role based on the outcome. It's up to you, but a possible plus to this way would be if you want contact information for each Resident (a feature in the Individual element, but not Roles). For Groups, I would create Community Association and Committee, then just have a Decision block somewhere that asks if a Committee is needed. For Roles, I would have Chairperson and Advisor (yourself).
Also, in the Advanced Shapes section there's a "Location" element that you may want to look at (if you haven't already) for the building aspect. It doesn't really have any additional features, but it would probably clarify things for your process.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your project!

Attached is a word document that explains the shapes and features. I basically gathered the information from the comment sections of each element from my demo (and made some changes), but this way it's easier to reference. There are no advanced shapes included, since I only covered what I would be using in my project.
Good luck!

Thanks again Elizabeth for a great reply.

Some other questions:
a) I'm trying to add some sort of Element, Note or Role, that can identify if a particular process or element should be made available "on a website" and if that iformation is viewable by an "an individual or a group" eg: X ROLE "is information that should be available on a website" and possibly made available to "an Individual" or "group" with Access Rights to either "Edit the information, View the information, or Both"

b) Requirements
Many Decisions are based on "Legal Requirements" is it as simple as creating a Requirement called "Taxation" and dropping this into a particular Desicion?

For the first question, I would say try using the hyperlink feature, and then describe who or when it is used in the Description section. This way each activity or role has a link to the website to get the information. Another option would be including it in a note and branching it off of that section.
Secondly, you could easily create a Taxation requirement and just add the information about it or a link to an activity or decision that needs it.
Sounds like you're on the right track

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for the reply and your generous help. With the help or your wonderful examples, I have been able to begin my first workflow. I'm sure it is flawed in many ways, but I will slowly try to fix it.
