I am currently working on a VSM project in which I would prefer to show the process name, and the steps within the process on the flowchart. I know I have a lot of room under each process' "description" box, but I want that data to be seen at all times, and not when you click on the icon.

I know this could make the VSM look "busy" but the description I want to display are only a few one liners.

Is this possible with this application?

Thanks.

Justin,

Thanks for your post. The easiest solution for what you have described would be to either use a "text area" shape or a "rectangle shape" from the main toolar.

ADDING TEXT AREAS TO DIAGRAMS:

1. Click on either the "Create a Text Area" button or the "Draw a Rectangle" button in the main toolbar.

2. "Click -> drag -> let go" of the mouse to draw your text area or rectangle on the diagram. Your first click will set the top-left corner of your text area. Letting go of the left mouse button will set the bottom right corner of the text area.

3. Double-click inside the new shape to enter text. NOTE - Some operating system combinations require a thirs mouse click to activate the blinking cursor.

EXAMPLE:

The following example shows three generic shapes with text used to create on-diagram labels and columns indicating "Inputs", the "Process", and "Outputs" in three vertical columns.

NEW 'SYNTHIS MAPS' TEMPLATE:

This example also shows a preview of our new "Synthis Maps" publishing template (coming in version 4.0) which allows you to view element descriptions, comments, and other high-level details in convenient rollover windows.

Below is another example in which the diagrams themselves are scrollable (with navigation similar to Google Maps / Yahoo Maps).

Hope this helps!
