Hi Carol,
The text under the standard diagram elements (the element's name) is set up to automatically word wrap when the text length is over 145 pixels.
If you use the text menu item to place random text on a the diagram or put text in a shape such as a circle or square, that text will word wrap to stay inside the figure bounds that you set (by dragging and dropping) and it will also show return characters you type in just like when typing an email.

Wells,
Thanks for your reply.
It is the text under an element that I want to control. I would like, as in Excel with an <ALT><Enter> combination, to force a break to the next line.
Is there a way to accomplish that?

Carol,
The idea with the text is that it is representative of the name of the element, and unfortunately the name field only takes a single line of text. I do like the <ALT><ENTER> idea though. I will pass that along to our product team. I don't think there is any reason we could not support something like that.
If you could use <ALT><ENTER> I would assume that you would just be using that to format information on the diagram? How would you like the name to appear in generated documentation etc?

After reviewing the generated documentation, I think as a string would be good, so basically eliminating the carriage control.
